Decarbonisation and Energy Policy: A Discussion at Fide
Fide will host an in-person session in Madrid on Monday, April 13 to discuss the role of decarbonisation in the current energy and economic context.
The session will feature Natalia Fabra as speaker, and will be moderated by Mariano Bacigalupo Saggese (UNED, CNMV, and Fide Academic Council).
Recent developments, including the war in Iran and the increase in energy prices, have highlighted the vulnerability of economies to fossil fuel dependence. In this context, the session will examine decarbonisation as a strategic opportunity for Europe and Spain.
The discussion will focus on its potential contribution to improving competitiveness, strengthening energy security, and achieving sustainability objectives. It will also address the benefits associated with the deployment of renewable energy, including lower energy costs, the attraction of investment, and stronger territorial cohesion.
In addition, the session will consider some of the main challenges of the energy transition, such as the development of long-term contracts, investment in storage, the reinforcement of electricity networks, and the design of an appropriate regulatory framework.
