Assessing Climate Risk: Alpha-Klima at EnergyEconLab
Today, March 25th, at CEMFI we hosted a presentation by Alpha-Klima, a company working at the intersection of climate science and finance.
They presented their platform for assessing physical climate risk, including a live demonstration of how climate data and asset-level information can be combined to evaluate exposure to a wide range of hazards, such as wildfires, floods, and extreme heat, under both historical and future climate scenarios.
The presentation showed how these risks can be mapped, analyzed, and ultimately translated into potential financial impacts, offering a concrete example of how increasingly detailed climate data can support economic decision-making.
These topics are closely related to ongoing and future research at EnergyEconLab, where understanding and quantifying climate risk is an important component of the broader energy transition.
We thank Alpha-Klima for the insightful presentation.
