The Energy Transition – Public Lecture at the University of St. Gallen
On March 12, 2026, Prof. Natalia Fabra delivered a public lecture at the University of St. Gallen as part of the ERP-HSG Lecture Series.
In her talk, “The Energy Transition: Challenges and Opportunities,” she discussed some of the key economic and policy challenges associated with the ongoing transformation of energy systems. The lecture highlighted how the rapid expansion of renewable energy, storage technologies, and electrification is reshaping electricity markets and creating new opportunities for industries and workers, while also raising important questions about market design, investment incentives, and the distributional effects of climate policies.
Drawing on recent research in energy economics, the lecture explored how electricity markets and long-term contracts can be designed to support investment in renewable generation, and how renewable projects can affect local labor markets and communities.
